SOUTHERN ROCKER CHICK starts off ….. back at the beginning! I thought we would be picking up right after where SOUTHERN ROCKER BOY ended but we go back in time and get Lacy’s POV. I didn’t know how much I needed to get this POV until I started reading it and so many things were clear to me. Clearer than the hints we got in the first book. So I was so pleasantly surprised with this story!
I felt a lot more sympathy for Lacy than I would’ve imagined. Her life hasn’t been roses. Don’t get me wrong, she’s made some bad decisions but she’s also just following her heart through all her bad and good decisions. And she’s trying to make the best of all situations.
I had to also remind myself how much of a good boy Jonah is. He doesn’t come across as that too much in this book, so I think it’s important to blend the two stories while you’re reading this one to get the full story.
So by the end of this book we are closer to where we finished in the first installment. I am so curious to read the next installment and see what will happen to heal the wounds in both Jonah’s and Lacy’s hearts. And I can’t help but think there might be a little wrench thrown in with a ghost from the past showing up during the competition.
Now that we know the full story, I’m ready to see what happens to give these two a much deserved HEA.

Southern Rocker Chick is a great addition to the Southern Rockers series. I loved getting to hear Lacy's story. This isn't just the same story as the first one told from the other point of view. Granted, it does overlap and give us Lacy's side of things with Jonah, but it is also Lacy's back story and leads out to about the same place that Southern Rocker Boy ends with more details from Lacy's experience.
I loved learning the Gaynell/Lacy story. It's not quite what you would think by what we learned in Southern Rocker Boy. Gaynell is a layered and calculating person. I won't say more though. You have to read it to find out!
This book was as well written as one would expect from the ingenious author, Ginger Voight. i just love her writing. It hits me square in the heart every time. Her characters are always amazing as well. Whether they're heros or villains, they're awesome!
I'm dying to get a hold of the next and final book in the Southern Rockers series! I want it sooo bad!!

In part one, we got Jonah's POV, at least to a certain degree - here we see Lacey's side, definitely setting us up for the showdown. Perspective changes a lot of things, especially in this series. I wii say there is a character here I'm glad not to hear from as well. As the second book in the trilogy, you can read it first, but reading them in order is advised. Really good series.
This latest book by Ginger Voight blew me away even more than Southern Rocker Boy did. Although I thoroughly enjoyed getting Jonah Riley's perspective, there were many unanswered questions about his love, Lacy Abernathy in book 1. Now with Southern Rocker Chick we get Lacy's story and so much more.
What I loved most was that we got the true backstory of Lacy and her dad Lucas. He's the man her mother married young, when both were struggling musicians. Getting pregnant with Lacy curtailed her stage career forever but that didn't stop Lucas. He was determined to make it big. And the love of music that he instilled in his young daughter's life never left her soul. Even when things fell apart for her family, Lacy still kept the memories of singing with her Dad close to her heart.
We follow Lacy through the departure of her Dad and her struggling to make ends meet with her now depressed mother, both of them living in an old and very cramped trailer. When 18 year old Lacy answers an ad to work as a bartender at Southern Nights, the very place where her father wanted to find his fame, she manages to get the job and her life is forever changed. The owner takes her under her less than honorable wing and grooms her along with her son to be the next great act.
Oh wow. What a journey this is for Lacy. Watching her vulnerability, her wanting to have a real family, her desire to make it big on her terms, craving love that she so desperately misses without her doting father around, broke my heart. But the drive, the perseverance that never wavers for Lacy, also warmed my heart. This is a story that has you rooting for the heroine to triumph through all the obstacles in her way, all the broken promises and shallow love to get her HEA.
With her relationship with Jonah Riley no longer part of her life, we are forced to wait and see what will unfold and if Lacy will indeed make it to the top. If she is poised to finally break through and have the career she has always wanted and not someone else's dream.
The third and final book will surely take us on yet another roller coaster ride that I hope will have a smooth finish. But with Ginger Voight, you never really know what will happen. That is the true beauty of her writing. Like life itself, you are left guessing sometimes as to what will transpire next.
This is another great series by an author who knows how to write storylines that feel real and true and come from the heart.
