Revive Me A Brother Best Friend Romance edition by Charity Ferrell Romance eBooks Reviews
This was a really hard read for me because some of my family members actually went through and are still going through what Tessa went through it's a really inspiring story of strength, determination on one man's part to help the girl he loves get through a tough time in her life. For this review I'm going to focus on the good times in the book because well I liked those and I don't want to spoil what the book is about, Dawson and Tessa have a unique relationship and Tessa that girl is just plain unique
"A wager-bomb," I confirmed. I glared at him as he burst out in laughter. "What the hell is so funny?"
"Do you mean Jagerbomb, babe?" He asked through his laughs.
Dawson is a good man, he's sweet, caring, and I fell in love with him even more when he was by Tessa's side and was so considerate through a couple of scenes, I mean he's always considerate and was by her side but more so in a few, "hey babe, everything going okay?" he asked. "I'm sitting in the parking lot about to head home, but I wanted to know if you needed anything before I left." Dawson he's got some balls
"Please tell me you didn't go through my panty drawer?"
"Well," he drew out, and I threw a napkin at him. "I didn't think you'd want to run around commando, so yes I did, and you have a very nice collection I might add."
This book was hard to read at times (I think I said that) because of some of the subject matter but I really did love how Dawson stuck with Tessa and was her strength at times.
This is the first book I have read by Charity Ferrell and it turned me into an instant fan. "Revive Me" will likely have a widely varying level of effect among readers. I say that because of the plethora of the relevant social and mental health issues incorporated into the storyline. Those who have endured a tragic loss, been broken by grief, lost a child, sibling or best friend will find the story resonating within them. If you have been so fortunate as to never experience such loss the story will open your eyes to the devastating toll it takes on others. Though fictional it could easily be a real life story as it is relatable to many current events and the writing style is fresh and smooth. The story itself has been well outlined by other reviewers but I must say Charity Ferrell did a spectacular job with Tessa, Dawson, Daisy & Reese. I think she really captured the personas of young adults struggling through family issues, grief and trauma. The story is sad, dark at times but the author keeps a constant flicker of hope and light burning that gets brighter, much brighter, as the story proceeds. Great read that I found to be beautiful and touching. There are a few pages of *mature* moments (minimal) but not overly graphic.
Absolutely MORBID! I didn't get halfway through before I had to stop and delete the book because it is pretty much a masochistic mental journey into hell that never, ever comes up for air.
This is not a romance. Not even close. I was reminded more of one of those ABC After School Special episodes that were designed to teach you a lesson about the evils of (drugs, alcohol, sex, not stepping in to save your depressed friends soon enough, etc.)
I guess if you want to entertain yourself by reading a step-by-step graphic journey into just how bad life can get as people intentionally self destruct, this might be a good book to read.
For me, it was just way too much graphic mental horror. I am having to chant "It's only fiction!" to myself as I weep and hold a puppy to feel halfway right again.
Because really I don't know how to feel about this.
One the one hand it's so ridiculously sad I almost couldn't keep reading. And when I say sad it's not what made Tessa sad it's how she handles her sadness. By the time she gets her....self.....together I was just losing interest. It's just another story about a family that lets a death destroy them into making stupid choices. So overdone and predictable it's getting boring to read time and time again.
Then the next overdone hero character that made a stupid promise to a best friend and doesn't decide to man up until it's too late.
I swear the only character in this book who had anything going for him was the 14 year old little brother.
That's why this story was so sad. I'm sure there will be plenty of readers who find the whole bottom layer of finding strength and healing and moving on and coping, and that's great....but....it's just the same sad story told so many times over with just a different title.
Drowning. Slowly falling, fading, pain, heartache, hurt. Trying to escape, trying to feel...something, anything. Tessa is in pain. Losing her twin, her other half has been too much. It’s overwhelming. Everything has changed. Her brother is gone, her parents have disconnected, disappeared, she’s paying bills, cooking, shopping, taking care of her younger brother. The only thing that hasn’t changed is her feelings for Dawson. But those have never been returned. She’s done. She has to do something to feel.
He’s trying to be storing. For himself, for her, her family, his mom...there’s so many. He loves her, he always has. He made a promise and has now way of breaking it easily. She’s spiraling. He’s losing her. How can he hold on for them both?
A story of pain and heartache. A story of beautiful love. Excellent story.
I'm reading it, it's very exciting!! Highly recomended!!!
