Hugely enjoyable, tremendously well-written, best book I've read in ages.

The book takes the readerback in time to Brighton Beach and an entertaining mystery bringing together Conan Doyle and Lewis Carroll. Alicia is a charming character. I hope today's readers discover it here on
In the interests of being completely honest, I have to confess that I only read a little over a third of the book. Luckily, I got it from the library, rather than buying it, as I couldn't get into it at all.

The premise sounded interesting, but the writing is dull and the action, what little there has been so far, seems to be in slow motion. Surely Lewis Carroll and Arthur Conan Doyle were never this boring? This book dragged on from the beginning and didn't pick up any momentum at all, as far as I read.

The plot struck me as odd, pretty much right at the beginning. A child is kidnapped and off they go to have tea before going to the police? That's pretty callous. I kept reading for a while but the book never got any better and I finally gave up.
A good read for fans of Sherlock Holmes
I enjoyed the book. Well written.
It's a pretty neat idea for Dodgson and Doyle to hook up and solve mysteries, but in this first installation, the answer to who was the villain was so simple that it was a bit of a boring read. Hopefully the next installments get better.
