Teardrop Lane An Eternity Springs Novel Emily March 9780345542328 Books

Whenever I open one of Emily March’s Eternity Springs books, I know I’m in for a richly satisfying romance full of complex, flawed, wonderful people. Her characters and storylines never come across as superficial or saccharine; they’re strong, believable, and real. I can see Eternity Springs, and these people, in my mind; I can hear their voices when they speak. Whatever it is that makes a story come alive for a reader, Emily March knows how to capture it. So I look forward to new releases with eager anticipation.

'Teardrop Lane' delivers on that promise. Hunt Cicero and Rose Anderson are both compelling characters whom I had met in previous books, and I was rooting for their romance the whole way. But there’s more than a romance in this one. I was just as drawn in by the children and their story, and Cicero’s evolving relationship with them, as I was by Rose and Cicero. There really aren’t two storylines here, and the children aren’t a subplot; their lives, Cicero’s, and Rose’s are slowly but inextricably woven together. It’s as much a tale of six people becoming a family as it is a romance, in a way that takes nothing away from that romance. It kept me reading late into the night, and I closed the book with the sense of having visited a well-loved place and having made new friends.

And that gets back to what I said in the first paragraph: Eternity Springs, its residents, and its stories feel real to me. March gets the details right, from the frustrations of dealing with a carfull of whiny children on a 2-day-long drive, to the descriptions of Cicero working in his glass studio or Rose dealing with patients in her clinic. Little is sanitized or idealized, except for the physical beauty of most of the “couples”, whether starring in this story or from a previous book. Kids get hurt or sick in this town; things don’t always work out perfectly for everyone – though of course things always work out for the hero and heroine in the end; this is a romance series, after all. But it’s not always easy getting there.

Some people might argue that the warmth, friendships, and community spirit of Eternity Springs are idealized, and that real life isn’t like that. But I live in a small town/county, and I’ve seen just that sort of care and support for each other among my friends and neighbors. I don’t think March is portraying Eternity Springs through overly rose-colored glasses. (The town could, however, do with a bit more diversity…)

Honestly, if you enjoy contemporary romance and you haven’t read the Eternity Springs series yet, you’re missing a treat. Run right out and get book one, 'Angel’s Rest.' You can thank me later.

Teardrop Lane An Eternity Springs Novel Emily March 9780345542328 Books Reviews

I have loved Emily March since I first read The Bad Luck Wedding which she had written as Gerilyn Dawson. No matter what name she writes under, this author always manages to take my emotions for a ride. Teardrop Lane is no different.

Hunt Cicero, known to his adopted sister's children as Uncle Hunk or Uncle Skunk depending on which child is speaking, has promised to provide financial support for her children following her death from cancer. A glass sculptor, he lives simply and sets aside the bulk of his income to accomplish this goal, even though the children reside elsewhere, because he will not allow the four children to end up in the foster care system. Having grown up in the system himself, Hunt is well aware of how tough it can be. Hunt ends up in Eternity Springs, secure in the knowledge that the children will be cared for and loved in Texas.

Rose has come to Eternity Springs to be near her sister, Sage, after her heart was broken by the man she was supposed to marry. She has put the past behind her and provided a much needed medical clinic for the growing population of Eternity Springs, Colorado. These two wounded souls come together to help heal each other and provide love and support for Jayne's children.

You will find repeat appearances by the members of this community, including the founder of Angel's Rest, Celeste Blessing. Join the community as they work to help this young family come together and stay together. We need communities like Eternity Springs in our world.
In Teardrop Lane (Eternity Springs #9), Emily March takes us back to small town Eternity Springs with Rose and Cicero's story. Rose Anderson is a physician who has moved to Eternity Springs to join her sister and for a fresh start. Despite a past that filled with heartache and pain, Rose always has a smile for everyone.
Hunt Cicero is a glass artist who also moved to Eternity Springs for business reasons. He is a man who is dedicated to his craft and open only to short-term relationships, which he plans to pursue with Rose. Both Rose and Cicero have baggage from their pasts, they are very independent and like their lives just as they are, so Cicero is completely unprepared and out of his depth when he has to step in as guardian to his foster sister's four young children and he reaches out for help from his friends and the community at large. Rose and Cicero find themselves getting to know each another while juggling the kids, very much like a married couple.
This is my first book by Emily March and I love that she made Eternity Springs a great place, with a great sense of community and people willing to step up and provide support when needed. I enjoyed reading Teardrop Lane for many reasons. The leisurely and deliberate pace of the story was welcome. The inclusion of the children's subplot help make the entire story something more than an ordinary romance. Rose and Cicero's stories were really emotional and I know that I cried in several spots. However, there were also cute things, like the nicknames they had for each other especially Doctor Mom and Uncle Hunk. I will definitely be catching up on the rest of the stories in the series!
