The Vault eBook Jettie Necole

Great story, wasn't expecting what I got when I started to read this. The premise is Nuclear War began, there's this Vault that only special folk get to hide out in and our heroine finds her way in via the second in command. At first, I thought I was reading a fan-fic of Fallout (Video Game). Then it started to feel "Animal Farm"-esque. Finally, it ended up being a love triangle with 20 somethings. The book leaves you on a cliffhanger, but at least some ends are tied up.

The scenes are fairly well done, I'd have liked to visualize more to feel more into the 'vault' itself. While there is some 'romance' within, we have no sex scenes, which sometimes feel like they are stuck in the story just to move it from Network TV to HBO and feels out of place. There is an undercurrent that isn't really described that hopefully will be in the next book.

Go ahead and get this, it's a nice read.

The Vault eBook Jettie Necole Reviews

I really liked this book. It was exciting from the word go and stayed that way. I tend to read into the wee hours of the morning when a book grips me and this book was no exception! I'm looking forward to reading the sequel. The love triangle thing didn't really do it for me but I was able to look past it and the main character seems to know who she likes, even if the boys are uncertain.
Olivia's story/adventure since the beginning was so incredibly good! And, once she was in the vault, what a journey. Even though Olivia met Gavin first (and normally, in most books, the main girl stays with her first crush), the chemistry between Olivia and Daniel was so romantic and beautiful. I am totally rooting for an Olivia + Daniel ever after! Oh, I really want to know what happens next... *The first book in a series. Yay!!!*
I enjoyed this book because I imagine the majority of the earth being destroyed by radiation and how survivors would cope mentally, socially and physically if they had to survive communally in a vault underground to survive. Sci fi is normally not my genre but this book is so centered on relationships that I enjoyed it very much. I would recommend it to anyone who likes romance and suspense.
This is one of those novels that you won't be able to put down...so make sure you have NOTHING else to do for the rest of the day! I won't divulge the details, because I don't want to ruin the elements of surprise for other readers...but I would like to encourage the author to write the sequel as promised! I would love for this story to continue and would DEFINITELY be first in line to download and read it! Jettie Necole is an AWESOME Storyteller!
This author can take you along as though you were. Any time a story can bring out emotions of mine (she got them all) even teared up in some spots, that's hard for a 65 old man. Since I' got my kindle two years now. Retired and have close to over three hundred stories. There is some I couldn't finish, there is a lot of good writers and some great ones. I put this author in the great ones for keeping the story moving along without a whole lot of Back story. She's not S. King But da#m she writes a good story. Sorry I run on so much
The Vault is Jettie Necole's debut novel, and as far as first novels go, this one is pretty solid.

Olivia is a high school senior returning home from a visit to a west coast college when she meets a handsome blue eyed man at LAX. They strike up a rapport, and form what both assume to be a brief airport friendship.

Then the end of the world happens.

The author does a nice job expressing the naivety of youth, as Olivia is both frustratingly immature (but hey, she's 17 and stuck in an underground bunker) and charming. Necole also imbues her two male leads with fully-formed and believable characterization. Gavin is a hard military man having difficultly assessing his feelings for his young charge. Daniel is a clever engineer who finds it difficult to compete with the masculine Gavin. The three form an interesting love triangle.

For readers who enjoy coming-of-age romance, this one should sate your appetite.
The Vault follows the story of a young girl, Olivia, who is trying to establish her independence from her mother and is on the verge of finishing school to go to college. The main male character, Gavin, is a military man who apparently excels at everything he does and makes a split decision to take Olivia with him to an underground vault during an obscure and unexplained nuclear attack on the United States. That sets the stage for the whole novel, which, if better executed, could have been a really great book.

Throughout the book there is misuse of words("except" instead of "accept") as well as places where quotation marks were opened and then forgotten or not used at all. This could be fixed with better editing, but if this easily irritates you, I would advise you avoid the book or enter knowing that those are inside.

As other reviewers have hinted, there is a love triangle established between Olivia, Gavin, and Olivia's boss, but there is never any real resolution to this, or a legitimacy to the characters, who never really seem to give a full view of their actions.

My other complaint with the book is the lack of explanation within the story line. We are never told who is attacking the United States or why, why Gavin is selected to work the Vault(other than his never ending ability to excel), how the Vault operates, or what had caused the Vault to be set up in the first place. These things made the book unsatisfying to me.

If you can handle the word misuse, the lack of explanation, and the absence of resolution, then this book might just be enjoyable for you. Otherwise, I advise you avoid it.
